Profile

  • Conducts research to develop and apply ecosystem models to answer the question: How will climate change affect Canada’s forests?
  • Working on a dynamic vegetation model that captures climate effects on forest ecosystem productivity, vegetation composition, soil decomposition and disturbance effects
  • Leading a project to downscale and interpret multiple GCM climate projections for North America in the 21st Century, in collaboration with Dan McKenney (GLFC) and Linda Joyce (US Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station)
  • Contributing biophysical model outputs to climate change vulnerability assessments at scales ranging from community to national, in collaboration with Tim Williamson and others
  • Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) Climate Change Task Force Technical Advisory Group
  • Leading a field project to measure carbon balance and water use of an operational hybrid poplar plantation in central Alberta
  • Contributing to the site level and regional level model intercomparison project organized as part of the North American Carbon Program (NACP)
  • Participating in a project to develop a more process-based version of the Carbon Budget Model of the Canadian Forest Sector (CBM-CFS3) with Werner Kurz and Dr Jing Chen (U of Toronto)
