Profile

He has implemented the Invasive Alien Species Strategy for Canada and participated in various CFIA and Environment Canada advisory committees on forest invasive alien species (FIAS), including monitoring of FIAS in high risk sites and butternut. He has also been involved in the development of surveillance methods for exotic diseases and the synthesis of knowledge and information on exotic pests and their control.

He coordinated the development of a web portal on FIAS. He collaborated on the Knowledge Transfer Strategy for Forest Invasive Alien Species and coordinated digital information archiving activities.

He is currently completing analytical work on the 1998 ice storm, updating a report on the National Acid Rain Early Warning System in Quebec, and producing a database on exotic pests on Canadian tree species planted abroad.

Education

Forest engineer with a bachelor’s degree from Université Laval (1978). Master’s degree in forest ecology and soil science (1986) and Ph.D. in forest sciences from the same university (1992).
