Roger studies impacts of silviculture on growth, yield, rotation length, wood quality, fibre attributes, potential final products and net value of western interior softwoods.
He leads an Inventory Systems Project which demonstrates application of LiDAR-enhanced forest inventory to strategic and tactical planning in western Alberta in collaboration with West Fraser Mills, Hinton Wood Products, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development and FPInnovations
Roger also assists BC Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch with delivery of the Decision Support System “SYLVER” which allows forest planners in western Canada to predict product yields, value and economic return from different silvicultural regimes and optimize their silvicultural investments.
