- Develop somatic embryogenesis protocols for germplasm conservation and mass propagation of disease free and/or disease resistant (when developed) endangered hardwoods Beech and Butternut, potential non-timber forest product species
- Develop a reliable method of testing the trees for disease resistance and mass producing true-to-type trees with enhanced disease resistance
- Develop a tissue culture protocol to propagate elite cultivars of Canada yew (_Taxus canadensis_), a non-timber forest product specie
