Tim attended Sir Sandford Fleming College from 1983 – 1986 and obtained diplomas in the forestry technician and forest technologist programs. Tim began his working career at Great Lakes Forestry Centre as a summer student in 1985 working for Forest Insect and Disease Survey and later worked in Forest Insect Parasitology until 1989 when he became an indeterminate employee in the Insect Production Unit. In 1993 Tim switched to molecular entomology where he studied the hormonal cycle of insects; studied baculoviruses; cloned recombinant viruses and studied RNA interference from a bio-control perspective for forest insect pests. Tim returned to the Insect Production Unit in the Fall of 2016 working on the rearing of emerald ash borer and associated parasitoids, as well as conducting field releases of Tetrastichus and Oobius parasitoids in both Algoma district and Southern Ontario.
