Remarks: Pores white, 2mm deep, small, angular. Flesh white, rubbery, tough (not fibrous). Stipe lateral, 1.5d x 25cm, exterior white. Glabrous, very tough. Cap glabrous, pale grey-brown. Monomitic, gen. hyphae 5-7-11 um, walls hyaline, very thick-walled. Tramal hyphae paralleled, straight, 2-3u diameter.

Remarks: On side of decorticated, well-rotted log (40 cm dia.). Monomitic, hyphae 2-6 um, clamps, walls hyaline, thin-walled. Spore wall thin, hyaline, smooth. Contents resinous, yellow-brown. Context white, homogenous, to 0.5 mm thick. Tubes to 4 mm deep. Hyp in phloxine uniformly pink. Field Collection No. 10908

Remarks: Found uprooted on hardpacked trail in second-growth stand of 80% Douglas-fir, 20% Ponderosa pine. Rind firm, 4 mm thick, pallid, crisp with paper-thin grey inner layer which surrounds capillitium; this layer is loose from rind. Capillitium black, stringy, flexible. Spore mass black. Odour strong, acrid, pungent, unfamiliar. Carp 4 cm diameter, pallid. No collumella. Epidermis grey in patches, paper-thin. Hole in carp and scrapings on exterior by squirrel?

Remarks: On bark on lower surface of recently fallen dead twig, 15 mm diam. When fresh adnate, to 1.5 cm diam. Deep reddish grey, smooth to tuberculate, tubercles small (+/- 1 mm diam.) when dry. Margins incurled, hym dark grey with lilac tint. Peniophora pithya but no lampro cyst. Monomitic, hyphae 3-5 um, thin-walled. Vesicles in subhymenium, clavate, brown wall 14 u diam. Spore wall thin, hyaline, smooth. Context in sections brownish, but individual hyp thin-walled and hyaline, closely packed, adherent hymen brownish in sections, basidia packed and adherent. Basidia 4 u d., 4-spored, projecting 10 u, 30-35 u long. Sections in KOH brown. Gloeocyst. sulfo positive, few, subhymenium cyl to subulate.
