National Forest Week (September 23-29, 2012)

Celebrate the rich contribution of our forests

Poster-front side

National Forest Week gives Canadians a great opportunity every year to celebrate the rich contribution of forests to our lives, economy, culture and history.

Few countries in the world are as blessed with such an abundance of natural resources and an innovative, resilient forest sector.

Our forests represent 10% of the world’s forest cover and far more than any other country are certified as being sustainably managed.

Canada’s forest sector is an important economic driver, particularly in rural communities, contributing $17.2 billion toward our balance of trade and directly employing 234 000 people. While continuing to manufacture traditional products, our sector is now transforming itself, developing a broad range of revolutionary products and expanding into exciting new markets.
