Abstract
Describes orientation and development of the roots of bullet, plug, tube and bareroot Douglas-fir and western hemlock seedlings planted experimentally since 1967. Within all categories studied, asymmetric orientation of the roots was common to all stock types, root spiralling was not significant and no evidence of tree toppling was found.
