- Insect population dynamic and impact studies, mainly balsam fir sawfly and hemlock looper

- Monitoring and surveying the population levels of the hemlock looper and the balsam fir sawfly with numerous techniques such as branch sampling, burlap traps, pheromone traps, light traps and bucket traps
- Insect and disease program as part of collaborative work with provincial insect and disease control personnel to coordinate joint collections and sampling
- Supervision and training of students and employees in the various techniques and procedures employed in integrated pest management studies
- Insect database computerization
