Remarks: Among Dryas, with Juniperus communis and Pinus albicaulis nearby. Subalpine habitat (low vegetation, pines scattered up to 3 m tall). Cap to 5 cm diam., +/- 20 caps in 1 acre, convex, glabrous, shiny, with weak marginal striations and white appressed patches (univ. veil). Stipe cylindrical, slightly wider at cap, annulus lacking but veil as pale grey layer over lower 2/3 of stem, sometimes interrupted. Volva white, distinct, membraneous, free edge 6 mm tall, cylindrical (not bulbous), 12 mm diam. Flesh white. Gills free, white. Carps partially dry (shrunken) when collected.
