Remarks:
On needle layer under ~40 cm diameter Abies lasiocarpa and Picea engelmannii. Pileus 11.5 cm diam. when fresh. Surface glabrous, grey to pale blueish grey with a few irregular patches of pale orange. Flesh white with 2-4 mm band of pale orange beneath pileipellis and above tubes. Tubes white, 3 mm deep, flesh very fine (not fibrous). Stipe 5 cm long, 1.8 cm diam., narrowing at base. Pore mouths round, white even.

Remarks:
Cap essentially plane, 9 cm diam., surface glabrous. Outer half tan, basal half blue-grey. Flesh white, odour mushroomy, pale orange-yellow under pileipellis and over tube, tough/rubbery. Tubes white, 3 mm deep, contrasts red with slightly yellow flesh. Stipe core white, 4 x 2 cm, firm, exterior white on lower half, pale blue-grey on upper half.
