Remarks: On Abies amabilis stump. Taste is mild. Smell pleasant, perhaps nutlike. Pores somewhat angular, small - 6/mm with relatively thin walls. Spores 2-2.5 x 1.5 um containing a prominent 1um "food reserve?" droplet. Dissepiments thin, mouths finely fimbriate, off-white. Tubes 1.5-2 mm deep. Trama pale greyish white, contrasting with the context. Context white, 5 mm thick, hard (cuts with difficulty). Context hyphae with clamps, clamps rare on thick-walled hyphae, distinct (not agglutinated), infrequently branched, brittle (breaking readily in squash mounts), 3-5 (-9) um diam, walls from 1 um thick to hyphae with only a capillary lumen. Tramal hyphae 2-3 (-4) um diam, clamps, distinct, walls thin to 0.5 um thick. Gloeopleurous hyphae not seen. Basidia clavate, 12 x 5 um. Basidiospores ellipsoid to broadly ellipsoid, 3.5-4.0 x 2.0-2.5 um (n=4), walls smooth, thin, hyaline.
