Remarks: Adjacent to and following root of mature tree. Cap 7 cm diam., papery dry, lightweight; surface smooth. Margin white or brown, surface appressed brown scales. Taste mild, odour weak spicy/sweet. Gills not decurrent, white, some with brown edge segments, edges irregular (Lentinellus-like), 8 mm deep. Stipe white, minutely punctate above ring, 5.5 x 2.5 cm. Ring large, fibrous/membraneous, white above, brown patches below. Flesh white, ditto stipe core.
