Remarks: On 25 cm diam. Tsuga heterophylla log, conks of Fomitopsis pinicola also on log. Context white, hard, to 1 cm thick. Tubes ochraceous, to 3.5 mm deep. When dry, context hyp 4-8 um diam. Walls hyal, thick, often leaving only a capillary lumen. Clamps common, branches infrequent on broad hyp, more common on narrower hyp, apparently brittle as they break in squash mounts. Tramal hyp thin-walled. Gloeopleurous hyp not seen. Basidia cyl/clav, 20 x 5 u, 4 sterigmate. Taste acid, not lasting.
