A fungus, seemingly an anamorph of an ascomycetous fungus isolated from an elm branch inhibited Ophiostoma ulmi (Buism.) Nannf. in some in vitro tests. When cultured on potato dextrose broth, the isolate produced an antifungal metabolite which was soluble in water, methanol and chloroform. When concentrated, this antibiotic substance produced inhibition zones against O. ulmi in tests on agar. This isolate also produced various enzymes on solid media.
