Abstract
Pterasthenia matileae, n. sp. is described from numerous viviparous alatae and nymphs living on Milletia eetveldiana (Leguminosae) in the People's Republic of Congo. The adult form is characterized by its specific pigmentation and by its media of the forewing with 2 branches while P. shiraensis Stroyan has only a single branch, and P. albata (Adams) shows 3 branches. Antalus Adams, 1965, formerly synonymized with Pterasthenia Stroyan, 1952 is now considered as a subgenus of the latter. P. (A.) albata lerui, n. ssp. is described. The Pterastheniinae subfam. nov. are compared with 4 other related subfamilies.
