Abstract

During a two-month period preceeding winter, the date of application of Benlate at the effective dosage and treatment frequency for the control of Lophophacidium hyperboreum and Phacidium abietis, two snow-blight-causing fungi of conifers, was not a critical factor. Lophophacidium hyperboreum on black spruce and P. abietis on balsam fir were controlled with a single application of 3% solution of EL-228 E.C. and 3% suspension of H719-75W, respectively, at the end of September. Promising during preliminary tests were Funginex, Easout, and Mercil.
