Abstract
Seventeen to 25 years after varying amounts of hardwoods were removed from 15 uneven-aged mixed-wood stands, the average conifer production superiority of thinned over unthinned stands was 2.5 cords per acre; production superiority for the seven best stands was six cords per acre. Several general guide rules for releasing conifers in mixed-wood stands are suggested.
