Abstract
Diapause in sawflies (Tenthredinoidea: Hymenoptera) has been mainly studied with respect to temperature and photoperiod influence. This applies to all forms of diapause found in this group: egg diapause, eonymphal summer diapause or eonymphal winter diapause. The problem of prolonged diapause, particularly in species having an eonymphal winter diapause is far from being understood. No biochemical data have yet been gathered on diapause in sawflies. Research should be more eco-physiologically oriented.
