Abstract

Supplementary inoculations with Godronia fuliginosa (Fr. ) Seaver and three forms of G. cassandrae Peck were made. Pathogenicity was also investigated of five other Godronia species occurring in Quebec. Inoculations with G. fuliginosa were successful on speckled alder and gray, white, and yellow birches. Godronia cassandrae f. betulicola Groves was pathogenic on yellow birches and trembling aspen, G. cassandrae f. cassandrae_ on rhodora, and G. cassandrae f. vaccinii Groves on highbush and velvet-leaved blueberries and two species of bilberries. Godronia confertus (Hone) Groves caused disease symptoms on pin cherry, G. urceoliformis (Karst.) Karst. on highbush, narrow-leaved, and velvet-leaved blueberries and bog bilberry, and G. viburni Rehm on squashberry. Inoculations with G. davidsonii Cash on skunk currant and G. spiraeae (Rehm) Seaver on meadowsweet were negative.
