A recent decrease in populations of Archips cerasivoranus (Fitch) near Plessisville, Quebec, and elsewhere in the province, was found to be due in part to the microsporidians Plistiphora sp. and Nosema cerasivoranae Thomson, the latter a recently described species not previously recorded on a A. cerasivoranus. Symptoms of diseased larvae, descriptions of spores and possible use of these microsporidians in control of Choristoneura fumiferana (Clemens), are discussed.
