Phacidium abietis, the causal fungus of snow-blight of balsam fir, can ban controlled with a systemic fungicide. Benlate, when applied as a 0,5% suspension in water at the rate of 100 mL/m2, will protect nursery-sized stock or young natural regeneration. A single application of the fungicide during the last week of September is required. Several other fungicides will reduce significantly the infection rates by they are less effective than Benlate. Additional research is required to correctly assess their performances.
