Abstract

Eighteen loci, comprising 15 polymorphic loci from 12 enzyme systems in eastern white pine (Pinus strobus L.), were analyzed by cellulose acetate electrophoresis using megagametophyte haploid tissue. Thirty trees were sampled in each of 10 natural populations in Quebec. The observed segregation ratios for pooled data showed that 14 of the 15 polymorphic loci conformed to Mendellan expectations. Allozymes of the second locus of phosphoglucose isomerase did not segregate in the expected 1:1 ratio. Linkage was investigated for 63 two-locus combination. Chi-square statistics did not reject the hypothesis of independent segregation for any pair of loci.
