Abstract

Analysis of multitemporal TM images of a subarctic region shows that reflectances in TM bands 2, 3 and 4 from data acquired in winter when snow cover is complete may be used to estimate conifer crown closure. Understory vegetation degrades the correlation between crown closure and reflectance after snow melt.
