Abstract
For a number of years in Canada and the United States, research work was done with the objective to show white pine weevil resistance and also to understand the mechanisms involved. Up to now, there has been strong evidence of resistance on trees and provenances expressed by the lower number of reattacks or levels of attack in plantations. Less weeviling has been associated with particular physical and chemical traits of the host plants. To reduce the negative impact of the white pine weevil, and integrated pest management system will be necessary. An overview of recent research done by the Canadian Forest Service - Quebec Region is also given.
