Abstract

Western spruce budworm infestations continued to cause extensive defoliation of Douglas-fir stands in the southeastern part of the Vancouver Mainland District. Mountain pine beetle has killed a large tract of lodgepole pine in the Klinaklini River Valley. Broadleaf defoliators severely damaged urban forests on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island.

Root and heart rot infection resulted in significant volume loss in conifer stands throughout the District.
