Abstract

The Fire Starter, a commercial petroleum product [maker not stated] encapsulated in a foam structure and wrapped in cellophane in 3 X 2 X 1-in. blocks weighing ca. 2.2 oz. and costing ca. 9 cents per block, will burn for 20 min. at flame temperatures 1500°F. It is useful in prescribed-burning operations and can be fused, lit and thrown by hand, fused and laid in advance for later ignition by fuse or electrically, or ignited direct.
