Microlychnus epicorticis gen. et sp. nov. is a lichenized hyphomycete found on the bark of three species of conifers growing in the coastal rain forest of British Columbia and Alaska. It is characterized by a synnematous fruiting structure bearing minute phialides which produce filiform conidia; its associated alga was not identified.
