Abstract
Analysis by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of crude extracts from the mycelium of five Beauveria bassiana isolates contained several proteins which were used to produce antibodies in BALB/c mice. The antibody response to these proteins was good and enzyme-linked immunoassay showed a wide antigenic cross-reactivity among the isolates. An isolate from Canada and one from the United States were the most cross-reactive while two isolates from China were the least cross-reactive. Both SDS-PAGE and Western immunoblot showed that each of the five isolates had a unique protein and antigenic profile. The immunoblot analyses also revealed the presence of a unique antigen in one of the Chinese isolates.
