Abstract

The toxic parasporal protein of Bacillus entomocidus var. entomocidus solubilized in vivo in gut juice, and in vitro under alkaline conditions, has been studied by serological methods and compared with similar preparations form Bacillus thuringiensis var. sotto. It ws found that b. entomocidus var. entomocidus shares at least one common toxic component with B. thuringiensis var. sotto, and also possesses an additional toxic component. Differences in electrophoretic mobility were found depending on whether the crystals were dissolved in gut juice or in mild alkali.
