Abstract
Revisiting the southern Ontario hardwood plantation legacy of Fred von Althen: The interest in afforestation as a tool to reduce atmospheric carbon and the desire to enhance tree cover for biodiversity and watershed management reasons in southern Ontario has helped renew interest in the work of retired Canadian Forest Service scientist Fred von Althen.
Turkey Lakes Watershed: The Turkey Lakes Watershed (TLW) is the site of a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary research project to evaluate the effects of human disturbance on a Canadian Shield ecosystem.
