Abstract

Natural Resources Canada’s National Tree Seed Centre (NTSC) provides seed for research and preserves the genetic diversity of trees and shrubs in Canada. It has the largest collection of seed from Canadian tree and shrub species.

Plain Language Summary

The National Tree Seed Centre (NTSC) manages a seed bank of native Canadian tree and shrub seed. The NTSC seed collections are used to provide seed of known origin and quality to researchers and as a repository for gene conservation. The NTSC was established in 1967 and now contains over 15,000 seedlots from 120 Canadian tree and shrub species.
