Plain Language Summary

Mitochondrial DNA is a small, circular molecule of DNA present in the mitochondria of every plant or animal cell. This manuscript provides the complete sequence of the Emerald Ash borer mitochondrial DNA. The gene composition of EAB mitochondrial DNA was also analyzed. This data is instrumental in understanding the relationship of EAB with other beetles and in identifying nucleotide markers to be used in future EAB population genetics studies.
