Plain Language Summary

Euglenes pygmaeus (De Geer, 1774), is a rarely collected European aderid that is considered part of the _saproxylic_beetle fauna associated with tree holes and decaying wood. We report on a collection of specimens from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, which represents the second confirmed record of this species in North America. A means of discriminating this species from all other Nearctic aderids is provided and will assist in the recognition of this species in the future.
