Abstract

Actia interrupta (Diptera: Tachinidae) is a larval parasitoid of the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae). A rearing technique using manual inoculation of first instar maggots on the larval hosts is described that improves rearing efficacy and allows for laboratory experimentation. This technique increases the number of parasitoids that can be obtained in a short time compared to traditional rearing in cages.
