Abstract
The Directory to Secondary Manufacturing of Wood Products in British Columbia was completed to support market development efforts. The forest products sector is increasingly competitive and information is needed to determine potential market opportunities. A listing of B.C. secondary manufacturing companies was developed by gathering names from various industry associations, and from private and public listings. The directory is not comprehensive, however, as some companies selected not to respond, and other companies, despite concerted efforts, may have been missed. Companies in the listings were requested to complete a questionnaire. The directory is divided into three sections: the first section is an alphabetical listing of the companies identified by name, the company address, and business type; the second section lists the companies under a variety of products; and the last section is arranged by business type and contains specific company profiles. Based on this research, it was estimated that B.C. secondary manufacturing generated about 14,000 direct jobs and $1.94 billion in sales (1994 estimates).
