Abstract
Equations for estimating separately the mass of merchantable and unmerchantable (stump and top) portions of the stem for variable top diameters and heights were derived for nine tree species. Results are expressed as percentages of ovendry mass of the total stem wood plus bark. Examples of application are provided.
