Dr. Amanda Roe is a Research Scientist who joined the Great Lakes Forestry Centre in 2016. She completed her PhD in 2006 at the University of Alberta on Dioryctria, a pest of conifer trees. Amanda’s research background spans population genetics, ecological genetics, evolutionary ecology, and systematics. Her research interests focus on answering applied pest management questions that exist at the intersection of ecology, evolution, and genetics. Amanda also serves at the Scientific Lead for the Insect Production and Quarantine Laboratory. She guides experimental projects that seek to understand and improve how we rear insects of economic importance. Amanda is also the chair of the Insect Rearing Advisory Group and acts as a liaison between the IPQL and our local management team.
