Conclusions
-
Screening of putative resistant parents has been successfully completed
(over 29,000 trees screened) - Resistant Sitka and interior parents have been selected
- Resistance is heritable and stable
- We are initiating the second phase: breeding for resistance
- Studying the ecology of resistance, i.e. the ecological conditions where resistance originated and where it is most likely to be stable.
